Last year the Cholla was my first race back in the Expert class after a couple of years racing in the Single Speed class. I had raced in the Expert class for a couple of years before that and always considered myself “pack fodder” never finishing above mid-pack and usually in the bottom 3rd.
It was here at the Intermountain Cup #2 last year that I realized it doesn’t matter what bike you are racing; light weight, full suspension, geared or single it just doesn’t matter. I managed a 3rd place finish on the Dork Bike and was extremely happy about it. On second thought it probably was the bike.
Me and the fam are heading down this weekend are you?
I realize this picture doesn’t have anything to do with the Cholla Challenge and I’m pretty sure Elden isn’t going to make it down this year but Damn! what a nice hat. I want one. And not bad Sunday best either. I’d totally wear that suit to church. Wait, I already do.
70 degrees, sun, dry singletrack dirt racing. I’m in. I could care less about “powder”
We plan to come down – gotta get out of this crap weather. Jolene will race, I will do a JEM / Hurricane Rim loop. Can you believe I’ve never done JEM? Yeah, it’s way past time.
Okay for Desert Rampage you said you were bringing the family, but Tasha did not show up. I am counting on her being there this time–it just isn’t the same without her.
Count me in. I will even be camping (with lots of moist towelettes if you know what I mean). It will beat last year getting there at 3:30 a.m. Not good for race performance for some reason.
Rico-What class you racing this year?
KK-That Jem loop is a much better option than racing. I might join you.
Kendra-As of right now, yes, Tasha is coming down but Saturday is still a couple days away.
i want to see an updated pic of elden to see if he’s really as heavy as he says he is.
andy, that’s as updated as it gets, unless he’s put on 20 lbs in the last two weeks.
Exp 30-39. There is nothing Pro about me
Andy-Black is really slimming.
I blew it. I somehow managed to schedule the two-for-toroweap ride for the same weekend. I am out. See you at RAWROD?
Game time decision for me. If I do go, it will be a day trip. I could some time in the pain cave.
Sorry, man. Looks like I’m not going to be able to make it. One less guy you get to beat. The worst part is this is the “Beat Bob” time of the year for me and I’ll miss it.
The fam and I are coming. I will be the “packfodder” for ya. Somebodies gotta do it!
well i’m working thurs, friday, sat DJ is racing and Q is doing some BMX racing in virgin so someone’s gotta watch the shop…. I might be Guiding Dave C around little creek on sun or maybe goose…..
Probably will not make it even though I need some good dirt riding. This snow is killing me.
Good luck down there! I will be enjoying the snow.
I have to say, that uni looks pretty awesome. Simple but still has a huge statement (if you know and have read Fatty’s blog).
Brad, you going to have any CarboRocket to sell at the race? I am running low and may need some for the race.
I’m in and so are Emma and Wesley. I am spurning your Masher Gang tho and coming with 27 gears and racing with the girlies this time 🙂
jruss-RAWROD for sure.
RickS-it’s only 4.5 hours each way.
Daren & Brandon-You’ll be missed. I’ll do an extra lap for you.
Dave-We’ll swing by and say hi either coming or going.
Forrest-Did you ever stop boarding last year? Didn’t think so.
JZ-Course!
Lynda-I’ve got something for you. I keep forgetting to give it to you.
my knee doc says i still have another month to rest the knee before i can ride. so no cholla for me-ah
have fun
Brad, you’re part cheetah, right? Got some super-human biking DNA grafted in?
How else to explain 1st place finish in Expert 40+ on a rigid single speed and everyone else on suspended gearies.
I know you say the SS is secretly an advantage. That’s if you’ve got the watts to push it. I’m amazed man.
Bummer about Tasha’s flat tire. Jolene said she was flying until then.
