Clark’s Trail is still closed but Jacob’s Ladder is wide open. If you’ve never ridden Jacob’s Ladder you’ve missed what just may be the best downhill trail in Northern Utah. It’s my fave and one of the reasons Draper City has the best mountain biking trail network of any suburban area in the State.
I’m a a little disappointed as I was really hoping to be the first one down Jacob’s this year but there was one other set of tracks up there. Who was it?
I only rode through a few patches of mud near the top and only had to get off my bike once to push through a 10 yard section of snow, other than that it was all ridable and I’m still grinning. Have fun!

I was riding in Corner Canyon just after noon. I was hoping Clark’s was open, but no. so I took Silica Pit over to the bottom of Ghost Falls then that new trail across the foot bridge then out the BST to Bear Creek Canyon and back. Lot’s a fast, flowy stuff – loved it.
Seriously? Better than the Tibble Fork descent? I’ve got to give that ride a go.

Fish-Mmmm….close. When Jacobs is linked up with Ghost Falls it’s right up there. Come North!

Mark (UTRider) and I planned to do a mellow Corner Canyon ride tomorrow around 4, but the Ladder doesn’t sound mellow. Does 4 work for you? If so, I’ll see if mark’s game.
You climb up the trail to the south then descend Jacob’s Ladder, right? That’s how it was explained to me. Is the climbing burly?
I agree. It is the best downhill trail. I love that they added that newer section before you drop into the bowl. The bowl always caused problems for me. It was in great shape today. Can’t wait to hit it tomorrow unless the weather turns.
you know, we rode for almost two hours today, up bst, up corner canyon road, up to jacobs, down, down ghost, and strung that new stuff together, and back to EQ. and that doesn’t even count clarks or any of the stuff going west along mike weir and to flight park, which could easily add another 3 hours.
someone in draper deserves a special night with a very expensive hooker.
oh, and fish, no, definitely not better than tibble fork or joy. brad’s just excited because jacobs is finally open.
dug, I agree – the trail folks at Draper City are heroes. I’ve called and talked to (forgot name) before about trails and they are on board 100%. I told him I enjoy riding the Draper trails and thanked him for his efforts. I told him I think those trails are some of the crown jewels of the city. I’ve heard they have one of those little trail bulldozers and will be putting in even more trails this year. I’m especially looking forward to the Maple Hollow trail that will connect with Oak Hollow and the BST to the top of Suncrest so a loop will be possible up Maple Hollow, east across Traverse Ridge then down Clark’s and back on the BST. Won’t that be a nice, big single-track ride!
dug-It’s defintely better than Joy, she is overrated. On par with, maybe edging out Tibble but not as good as Mud Springs.

Joy, Mud, and Tibble are WAY better than Jacob’s. The only thing near Corner Canyon that compares is the Chute.
throw in Mill in AF, and that’s at least 4 that are better than jacobs. maybe, MAYBE i’ll give you jacobs over joy, but certainly not over mud, or tibble, and definitely not over mill, which is, in fact, the best downhill.
Brad, did you hit upper Jacob’s…taking the right at the ‘top’ of the normal Jacob’s trail and going up to the Alpine overlook? I think that gives an extra 800 or so vertical in a mile or two. That makes for a good climb, and I think that is one of the best descents around. Mostly only see four wheelers or motorcycles up there.

They have purchased the machine and have trained someone to pilot it. I have been sitting in on the last couple of Draper Trails Committee meetings and there are some great trails coming and some improvements to existing trails that will make the area even better. Props to the city for purchasing the landand the machine, the committee for their hard work and all the volunteers who’ve been building the trail network. I rode frank to dry yesterday, and I would rate the dry desent as better than Jacobs ladder. I think we should have a specific day in the week that everyone trys to hit corner canyon at 4. Maybe every wednesday.
Good call brad, that is one of the most fun downhills on the wasatch front, I don’t think I would recomend riding up it first though that was pretty brutal. thanks for the heads up
Tolbert-You deserve an award or something. I don’t know anyone who has climbed Jacob’s ladder before. Sorry, I had to run the air was bleeding fast, I ended up walking for about 15 minutes at the bottom.
Nice! Since I was the one who suggested (jokingly…) that you ride up and you did, it seems like I should try and do the same one of these days.
I wouldnt recomend it, it pretty much sucked, but its amazing what you can climb when you have gears. Single speeding mess’s with your mind
