Cyclocross Ice Skating

1 Dec

What a difference a week makes. Last week shorts and short sleeves. This week multiple layers and gore-tex.

Some pics from last week:

And here’s today:

Does anyone remember the first time they stepped onto an ice rink with skates? That’s pretty much how the whole race felt to me. My inner spaz came out in full force today. I have no idea how many times I fell down, I stopped counting after about 7. I only ran over one person though, poor woman. I think I finished somewhere in the middle back of the pack.

Tasha made the wise decision to go to spin class this morning instead. Everyone had a great time including the beast.

Wow. Hard core conditions. I thought about meeting you there but when I woke up decided against it.

Nice pics. Seems like the snow would make your forget about the pain of cross racing?

Hey! nice pics… in Spain the temperature this days (at least in the very south west) is about 20ºC so you can imagine how different is the place you live.

Our extrem conditions take place in summer when we can reach 110º (45ºC)

With snow i bonk FOR SURE!!!

… and nice Ti fork but in our ciclocross races flat bars or greater than 46cms are banned 😉

wow…singlespeed and with disk brakes… how different we are in Europe!!!

Rick, you know what’s crazy? It wasn’t too hard today. I was such a spaz just trying to stay upright that it wasn’t that hard physically.

Fernando, Cyclocross isn’t huge in the States like it is in Europe yet. It’s gaining momentum and the local race scene just wants to encourage everyone to come out and try it so they aren’t too concerned with rules regarding your bike. BTW, the fork is a custom WaltWorks steel not Ti fork. Thanks for stopping by.
